In the greenhouse production eggplant was trained to one main shoot, with modification of the number of leaves (1-4) and fruit sets (1-3) on side shoots. With the increasing reduction of leaves and fruit sets, an increase in the leaf area and thickness of the leaf parenchyma as well as improvement of the PAR irradiation in the plant profile were observed. The limitation of the fruiting area led to a significant decrease in the yield and the improvement of the fruit quality.
