The effect of foliar applied policompound fertilizers on yield of iceberg lettuce

In a field experiment conducted in 1998-1999 the efficiency was estimated of foliar application of policompound fertilizers Ekolist PK, Ekolist U, and Mikrosol U in iceberg lettuce production. Preplant fertilisation with half or full recommended rates of NPK was supplemented by four foliar sprayings conducted at ten day intervals during the intensive plant growth stage. Results of the study showed that foliar nutrition of iceberg lettuce gave an increment of marketable yield at a range up to 9.6%, and mean weight of head by maximum 30.7%. Nutritional value of the crop expressed by the content of dry matter, total and reducing sugars was not affected by the foliar plant nutrition.
