The assessment of cultivars was carried out from 1992-96 at the Cracow
Agricultural University. The experiment covered six blackcurrant, two
redcurrant and one whitecurrant cultivars. The highest yields of
blackcurrant were obtained from the cultivars Titania, Triton, and Ben
Lomond, while the higher yielding cultivar of redcurrants was Rosetta. The
lowest yielding cultivar was Biała of Jüterbog. In the group
significantly resistant to diseases were the cultivars Fertödi, Ben
Lomond, and Titania. The region of southern Poland offers favourable
conditions for the commercial growing of currants.
