Yield and germination immediately after harvest and during one year
storage of Callistephus chinensis ‘Ryszard’ seeds, harvested on two
occasions from primary, secondary, and tertiary capitula, were studied.
The greatest quantity of seeds was produced on secondary and tertiary
capitula. The matured seeds harvested on 20th October from all capitula
were heavier and germinated better during storage for six months than
those collected three weeks later and from tertiary capitula. The best
temperature for germination of unstored seeds, was 5-15°C. The percentage
of germinated seeds and range of temperatures favourable for germination
increased after storage for six months.
