The population dynamics of Macrosiphum rosae occuring on Rosa rugosa and R. canina in the city area of Lublin in 1992-1994 was investigated. The rose aphid was found to be most abundant on Rosa rugosa. Dry and hot weather (over 30°C) as well as rainstorms substantially reduced the numbers of the aphid on the bushes. Strong infestation by the aphid resulted in significant injuries appearing in the deformation of stems, leaves, and flowers.
