In the years 1991-1993 investigations were carried out in plastic tunnels on several years old grapevines of 6 cultivars: Aurora, Boglarka, Pannonia Kincse, Reflex, Refren, and Schuyler. The plants were trained using 2 systems: Guyot's single cordon and pergola trellis. The study showed that the pergola trellis was a better system of grapevine training for Aurora, Reflex, and Schyler. This was due to their stronger growth, easier amd less labour-intensive training and pruning as well as a higher yield. Of the investigated cultivars Schuyler, Refren, and Pannonia Kincse were found to be the most suitable for cultivation under plastic tunnels in terms of their high yield and fruit quality. Pannonia Kincse yielded better when trained according to Guyot's cordon system. The investigations will be continued.
