In the years 1991-1993 investigations were carried out in plastic tunnels on growth reduction through summer pruning and root pruning of the peach cultivars Redhaven and Golden Jubilee. The effect of these operations was evaluated by peach tree growth and yield measurements. The study showed that root pruning and double summer shoot pruning reduced the tree growth, at the same lowering the yield per tree, while not causing a fall in productivity. Redhaven, with weaker growth and high fruitfulness, was found to be suitable for growing under cover. Golden Jubilee, owing to its too strong growth and low yield was found to be unsuitable for this kind of production.
