The morphological traits and phytometric measurements of the fruit of eight Polish cultivars of sweet pepper were investigated. Detailed analyses of the chemical composition permitted the determination of 23 indices. Also the yields of the cultivars in the Kraków region were determined. On the basis of all the factors analysed, the cultivars Bryza, Zefir, Kano, Sono, and Kujawianka may be recommended for commercial growing for the food industry. Considering the very high percentage of physiologically mature fruit in the yield obtained in the Polish conditions, Kujawianka seems particularly valuable for processing.
