Observations of the scale of leaf scorch infection in the strawberry and its effect on plant vigour, fruit yield, and single fruit weight in the year following its appearance were carried out. There was no significant dependence between yield and single fruit weight and the scale of infection in the year of appearance of the disease, but and adverse effect of the pathogen was observed in the following year (1991). No such correlation was found in 1992. Six clones tolerant to Diplocarpon earliana were selected.
