The results are presented of two years' investigations concerning the effect of nitrate (N-NO3), ammonium (N-NH4), and urea (N-NH2) nitrogen fertilizers applied using the nutrient film technique (NFT) on certain indices of greenhouse lettuce quality and its changes during storage at low (5°C) and high (20°C) temperature.

The form of nitrogen applied in a nutrient solution strongly affected soluble sugars, ascorbic acid, and ATP level, while starch, total protein, and dry mass content was much less affected.
