A very high natural reduction of aphids by Coccinellidae on two
carrot fields near Opole in southern Poland was observed in 1991. The
carrot plants were from 73 to 98% infested by aphids. In spite of this,
coccinellids adults and larvae effectively reduced the aphid population,
suggesting that chemical control of pests may be omitted.
