Gerbera jamesonii Bolus ‘Amber’ and ‘Queen Rebecca’ were sprayed
with GA3 at 50, 100, 200, or 500 mg l-1.
Compared with controls, applications of GA3
at 200-500 mg l-1 resulted in a slight
increase in the stem length of cv. Amber but had no effect on that of
‘Queen Rebecca’. Spraying with GA3
increased the inflorescence diameter of both cultivars. GA3
treatment reduced the inflorescence vase life, while preservative solution
containing 8HQC + S greatly extended it in GA3-treated
and untreated plants of both cultivars. The inflorescence yield was not
affected by any GA3 treatment.
