Fourteen cultivars of sweet pepper produced by two Dutch breeding firms, Enza Zaden and Royal Sluis, were compared. Vegetative growth, yield, fruit quality and biological value of fruit were evaluated.

Significant differentiation in the intensity of growth was observed in plants of the cultivars compared. The highest level of yield was found in the cultivar Redgold F1, Bell Boy F1, Mayata F1, and Bendigo F1. High commercial values were characteristic for fruit of the cultivars Mayata F1, Lamuyo F1, Mikalor F1, and Vigaryo F1. Non-significant differences appeared in the content of dry weight and sugars before and after inversion, greater differences between the cultivars being only noted in the content of L-ascorbic acid.
